The Silent Struggles of the Inattentive ADHD Mind

When I palm read and see women with the same hand presentation as mine, I always take extra time to remind them how wonderful they are. We, the ones with inattentive ADHD, stress and worry more than most, and it’s a quiet struggle. On the outside, we may look like we’ve got everything together. But inside, we’re replaying conversations, second-guessing how we came across, or worrying that we might have upset someone we don’t even really know.

This tendency to overthink and internalise is part of what makes empaths so tuned in to other people’s feelings. But it also makes us vulnerable when it comes to relationships, especially with strong, confident personalities.

Why the Empath Attracts the Narcissist

Over time, I’ve worked out why empaths often attract narcissists or very dominant personalities. It’s not fate, and it’s not some mystical punishment. It comes down to confidence dynamics. Many empaths (myself included) aren’t bold enough to make the first move, so we wait for people to approach us. Another empath would be just as shy or caught up in their thoughts, so instead, it’s usually the most charismatic and confident person who steps in.

In palmistry, that confidence shows up in certain features. A long ring finger often signals natural charm, charisma, and magnetism, the kind of dazzling energy that fills a room. A long pinky finger suggests strong communication skills, persuasive talk, and an ability to win people over with words. That’s exactly the kind of personality that sweeps empaths off their feet.

The Short Pinky Dilemma

But here’s the tricky part. Those of us with a short pinky finger often struggle with communication, we might hold back, stumble on our words, or find it hard to express what we really want. And who are we most drawn to? People who have the opposite, the natural gift of persuasion. Those confident talkers with long pinkies and strong energy can feel magnetic to us. Add in the charisma of a long ring finger, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for an empath like me (with a long index finger that makes me deeply empathetic and people-focused) to get swept away.

The trouble is, we sometimes get so dazzled by their confidence and charm that we forget to slow down and actually see who they really are. Not every confident, charming person is a narcissist, but many narcissists carry exactly these traits. And that’s where empaths are most at risk.

Breaking the Pattern

If we can learn to recognise these patterns, both in our own hands and in the people we’re drawn to, we can start making better choices. Palmistry gives us a language for it. It bridges intuition with something practical you can see.

When you notice your own patterns, maybe you’re the empath who overthinks, or maybe you’re drawn to the dazzling talker, you can step back and ask: Is this connection truly balanced, or am I just being pulled in by their shine?

That awareness is the first step in breaking the empath–narcissist cycle. It doesn’t mean avoiding charismatic people altogether. It means pausing long enough to see whether their actions match their charm, and whether their confidence is built on genuine care, or just control.

Closing Thoughts

The empath–narcissist connection isn’t just about energy; it’s about patterns we can actually see in the hands. When you know what your own palm is showing you, your strengths, your blind spots, your attractions, you’re no longer walking into relationships blindly. You have the inside knowledge to recognise what draws you in, and more importantly, whether that energy is truly good for you.

When I read the palms of singles, I often point out the love lines coming up. I explain that it’s not just about having a line, the other person needs to have a line in a similar spot to show they’re also ready for a relationship. This alone can help people avoid mismatched timing and wasted energy.

If this resonates, why not take it a step further? Learning palm reading gives you a window into yourself and others that most people never think to look through. Your palms are a living map of your blueprint, and once you know how to read them, you’ll understand your relationships, your choices, and even your patterns of attraction on a whole new level. It’s the inside knowledge that helps you move through life with more confidence and clarity. - Ang x
